Life Imitates Art: 4 Beautiful Examples
No. 12, 1951, one of Mark Rothko’s iconic abstractions, seems to channel deep human emotion, if not transcendental realms, with its diaphanous fields of luminous color. A master of subtle beauty, Tomas Maier blocked out this Bottega Veneta coat in rich shades of terra-cotta and tangerine double cashmere.

His 1892 painting of London hostess Mrs. Hugh Hammersley brilliantly captures the opulence of her gold-trimmed dress and refined surroundings. More is so much more when it comes to Christian Louboutin’s Babouchkaflor velvet mules, which are bedecked with a profusion of flowers, sequins, and ruffled trim—not to mention the glitter-encrusted heel.

Celebrating its 45th year in Manhattan, the Italian jewelry firm Bulgari recently unveiled its opulently renovated Fifth Avenue flagship as well as a special collection called From Rome to New York City. One of its standout pieces is the Serpenti Bracelet, a white-gold coil set with coral, lapis lazuli, pear-cut brilliant diamonds, and pavé diamonds.
