“There’s so much energy that goes into the creation of the floral installations, and it’s so ephemeral,” says Rosalila founder Lufti Janania, one of Galerie’s 2023 Creative Minds. “I almost want that sentiment to be permanent in the world—that’s what I want to achieve with my objects.”

Having literally burst onto the cultural forefront with his exuberant flower installations, seen everywhere from the Museum of Art and Design to fashion shows with Angel Chang and private events for creative clients like Buccellati and Mara Hoffman, Janania draws inspiration from his upbringing in a Honduras bio reserve. His botanical work explodes with unique blooms and large jungle-like greenery, which also informs the one-of-a-kind vessels he crafts using an ancient technique from the Lenca community.

Here, Galerie visits Janania in his Brooklyn studio, as he shares the innovative techniques behind his multifaceted work.
