This year’s edition is set within a historic Beaux-Arts mansion overlooking Riverside Park on the Upper West Side

The Kips Bay Decorator Show House is once again back in New York City. This year’s edition is set within a historic Beaux-Arts townhouse overlooking Riverside Park and the Hudson River on the Upper West Side. Dubbed River Mansion, the stately brick-and-limestone residence dates to 1902 and was originally owned by actress Julia Marlowe before being divided into “rooming house” by the time the Great Depression hit. In the late 1970s, Seagrum heir Edgar Bronfman, Jr., turned it back into a family home—and it’s been in the family ever since.

Open through June 6, the manse in its current state features the work of 22 top interior designers, among them William T. Georgis, Timothy Corrigan, Sawyer|Berson, and Ghislaine Viñas. Each talent has been given free rein to transform one room within the dwelling’s 10,000 square feet of space. The result is a stunning showcase of the latest trends in interior design from the moment you step inside. And it’s all for a good cause: Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, a non-profit organization that provides after-school and enrichment programs to children in the Bronx and Palm Beach.
