Martin Brudnizki Crafts a Decadent Nightclub in Mexico Inspired by Frida Kahlo’s House
The acclaimed designer just unveiled Chiki at Costa Palmas, a new luxury resort and residential community set on a thousand beachfront acres on the Sea of Cortez
Designer Martin Brudnizki, a 2020 Creative Mind, has brought his penchant for decadence to Mexico’s Baja California Sur peninsula, conjuring the alluring private nightclub Chiki at Costa Palmas, a new luxury resort and residential community set on a thousand beachfront acres on the Sea of Cortez. “Architecturally, La Casa Azul was a major source of inspiration,” he says, referencing artist Frida Kahlo’s color-soaked Mexico City home, while “local folklore inspired the interiors, particularly the alebrije figures that guide your progression through the space.”
Indeed, to create a special corridor linking the bar, lounge, and dance floor, Brudnizki collaborated with artist Celso, who conceived a kaleidoscopic mosaic rife with mythological motifs. Also sprinkled throughout the vibrant hot spot are handcrafted bronze sun, moon, and star sconces as well as mirrored mosaic palm trees and ribbons. “There are so many special moments within the interior,” adds Brudnizki. “It transports you.”
