Martyn Lawrence Bullard Crafts a Glamorous Bedroom Around an Iconic Marilyn Monroe Portrait

As much of a celebrity as the A-list clients on his roster, the Los Angeles designer channels the subject of a famous Andy Warhol work for a superstar-worthy suite

When Martyn Lawrence Bullard designs an interior, it’s always full on. Sophisticated colors, eye-catching patterns, and extraordinary finds from around the world shape his unique vision. Consistently one to bring on the glamour, he selected Andy Warhol’s 1964 silkscreen Shot Sage Blue Marilyn, which recently sold at Christie’s for $195 million, as the foundation for a cinematic suite. “To capture the period and dramatic splendor of this Warhol, I designed a bedroom for a full ’60s impact,” says Bullard.

“The bedroom pays homage to the legendary beauty while creating a romantic and bold space that would be fitting for Marilyn Monroe herself”
