Thanks to a wall of folding doors, the great room of Tracy and David Beauchamp’s home on the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, California, functions like a covered open-air pavilion, with views of the bay. Magni Kalman Design masterminded renovations on the century-old house, EBTA Architects carried out the structural work, and G. Grisamore Design oversaw the landscaping.

A slate walkway curves around a painted-bronze bust by Jaume Plensa at the entrance.

A Tara Donovan artwork composed of steel pins presides over one side of the great room, where designer James Magni installed four 1960s Milo Baughman chairs and a pair of Holly Hunt stools around a Magni Home Collection cocktail table; the rug was custom made by Stark.

The great room sofa is by Magni Home Collection, as is the cocktail table it wraps around; they’re joined by midcentury T. H. Robsjohn-Gibbings armchairs (one visible), Cedric Hartman floor lamps, and an acrylic side table by Magni Kalman Design. A Jeppe Hein installation of mirrored balloons is suspended over the staircase opposite a monumental Garth Weiser painting that hangs in the landing, which is padded with a Mansour runner.

The entry’s arched doorway frames the Jaume Plensa sculpture beyond.

A Takashi Murakami sculpture sits on a plinth at the center of the entrance gallery; the artwork on the right wall is by Lesley Vance.

At a family’s airy Balboa Peninsula, California, home, James Magni incorporates sculptures by Joel Morrison and Kehinde Wiley as well as a Tara Donovan work.

Magni Home Collection pendants are installed above the Holly Hunt table and DLV Designs chairs in the dining room, where a large Mark Grotjahn painting adds dynamic splashes of color. Works on paper by Joyce Pensato flank the window seat, and a Jeff Koons porcelain vase perches on the custom-made cerused-oak cabinetry with Rocky Mountain Hardware pulls.

At the foot of the primary suite’s custom-made bed dressed in Frette linens, a settee and cantilevered side table, both by Magni Home Collection, are paired with stools upholstered in Edelman leather. Orestes Suarez lamps top the Holly Hunt nightstands, and the bespoke silk rug is by International Flooring.

In the primary bath, which features a La Murrina chandelier and expanses of Walker Zanger marble, Axor fittings outfit the Duravit tub and custom shower.

The lap pool is by G. Grisamore Design.
